A Handbook for SLP Early Intervention with Toddlers

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that working with toddlers can be a real challenge. It can be so hard to find resources tailored for SLP early intervention and speech therapy for toddlers.

The truth is, when I first started working with toddlers, I experienced those same frustrations. I even questioned myself as a SLP! I felt so discouraged. The toddlers on my caseload didn’t want to do the activities, they would run away during sessions, throw my toys, try to eat books instead of read them, and, to top it all off, parents started asking “why aren’t we seeing progress?”

Not to mention, every time I searched for “toddler speech activities,” I could never seem to find what I was looking for! Resources were either for the preschool population or geared toward parents and caregivers.

I refused to give up, though, because I knew that if I was struggling, others probably were too.

So, here’s what I decided to do. I wanted to make resources for us, the SLPs. We are often on the front lines of early intervention- even though we don’t learn much about this population in SLP grad school.

Fast forward a few years [and a ton of hours scouring the internet and books for research and information], and I’m excited to say I’ve created just that! And friend, there is nothing more I would love than to help you simplify your sessions, understand toddler development, and discover multiple ways to use the same books (and toys!) in your sessions with toddlers.

Communicate and Connect: A Roadmap for SLPs Working with Babies and Toddlers is ready to go!

What is the best way to describe this incredible book?

It’s everything you never learned in grad school about toddler development:

  • Prelinguistic Skills
  • What is Communication/Who are Late Talkers?
  • Language Development
  • Speech Development
  • Imitation Development
  • Attention Development
  • Play Development
  • Evaluating Speech/Language
  • Writing Goals/Monitoring Progress
  • Social Stories/Visual Communication
  • Choosing Books and Toys
  • Anything Can be Therapy:  incorporating language, communication, and speech in daily activities

Every chapter includes handouts and info. For example, prelinguistic skills are explained individually and as a whole. There are also examples of activities, toys, and ways to use them to incorporate the development of each skill.

Each chapter will be laid out in the same format: What is it? Why is it important? And How can I encourage it?

Here’s the deal, though—to keep the cost of this incredible resource down, I’m releasing it in chapters so that everyone can purchase the book at a low price. Everytime a chapter is added, the price will go up.

At the time of this recording; Chapter 1 Prelinguistic Skills and Chapter 2 What is Communication and Who are Late Talkers? will be available. Side note: there are over 60 pages of information and resources on these two topics.

However, if you bought it at a lower price, you get those updates totally free.
